Before the Future is the catalogue of the Pavilion of Ukraine at the 2023 Biennale Architettura in Venice, featuring texts and images by the project's curators and collectives alongside additional articles and essays.
In the exhibition and its accompanying programme, the grass-covered defensive earthworks in the Giardini and the dark, enclosed shelter in the Arsenale become spaces for Ukrainian architects and practitioners from various fields to raise questions about telling stories during wartime, the value of collective action in the face of threat, the multitude of topics that unite architects in Ukraine today, and the questions that must be asked before the future.
