The second issue of POMIZH magazine explores different visions of Dnipro and the space around it, looking at how one’s view of the city changes through time, distance, the possibility of loss, and the presence or absence in the city of those who understand you.
This issue traces how the same landscape is perceived in childhood and later in life, from up close and from afar, in relatively peaceful times and in moments when the things that shaped you are being destroyed and taken away. It also reflects on what helps articulate these visions — photography and poetry, cinema and place names, music and art. The issue is bilingual, with all texts translated into English.
POMIZH is an independent media platform about Dnipro and its surrounding context, active since 2022. The publication focuses on questions of identity, cultural and historical heritage, memory, and urban mythology. POMIZH includes a print magazine, a podcast, and a website.
