A set of 9 postcards from a series of vytynanky (paper cuts), entitled Garbuzovi rodychi or Pumpkin Relatives. This takes from the familiar folk song sung by children during the harvest season in Ukraine-as with many childrens' songs, it carries veins of hope, future generations and the continuity of life. Turliun's paper cuttings provide solace and continuity, a poignant and pared back contrast to the complexity of experience enkindled by the war.
'The pumpkin walks around the vegetable garden, asking its family, 'Oh, are all the pumpkin kin alive and well? The pumpkin's wife, a yellow melon, says, 'We are all safe and sound!'
